Five damage of tea storage :
1.Humidity
Green tea has a strong ability to absorption of moisture, when storing green tea , its better to keep it at 60% of humidity, if more than that, green tea will mildew because of moisture.
2.High temperature
The best storage temperature for green tea is 0-5℃. The higher temperature speeds up chemical process the more nutrition of green tea would lost, such as amino acids, carbohydrates and vitamins will be decomposed, that lead to the quality, aroma and taste getting worse.
3.Sunlight
Sunlight is another thing need to pay attention when store green tea, same as the general food, green tea need to avoid direct sunlight. Light stimulates the decomposition of Chlorophyll, which will also affect the color of the teas.
4.Oxygen
Fresh green tea becomes old when it comes into contact with oxygen, critical vitamin C depletes, and oxygen starts to attack the antioxidants in green tea. Old tea leaves will begin to turn brown and lose their fresh taste.
5.Odor
Green teas is similar to bamboo charcoal, they both have strong ability to absorb smells from surrounding objects.
Three storage way of tea:
1.Plastic bag/ tinfoil bag
Use airtight resealable plastic or tinfoil bags to store your tea.
2.Tins
If you are stocking up on tea, buy several smaller bags over one large tin.
This will help keep your tea fresh for as long as possible.
3.Fridge
Store your tea in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
This will help block light and air from your leaves and maintain freshness
